Thank you for an opportunity to present an overview of our firm and the people comprising it. Merina & Company, LLP (MCO) is a diverse accounting and consulting firm. We began business in 1979 in West Linn, Oregon where we have been continuously located.
The firm principals are founder, John Merina, CPA and Kamala (Kammy) Austin, CPA who joined the firm in 1996. Our twelve staff members include managers, senior accountants and staff accountants. Firm associates bring a diverse background of education and experience that provide a strong base for our accounting, business, governmental, and consulting services.
We are a traditional accounting CPA firm. Because we don't take commissions, sell products or accept contingent fees, you can be sure our advice is always independent. We strive to provide the highest quality auditing, accounting, and tax services while emphasizing innovation and timeliness.
We are more than just a CPA firm, however. Our consulting practice provides an independent resource to establish rates and fees for local governments and regulators. We have extensive experience with a wide variety of rate and fee types and structures. It is our goal to continue to grow our services in this field. We enjoy this work. Merina & Company is the premier consulting firm in the Northwest for consulting in the solid waste industry. We are experienced in all aspects of compliance and the financial side of waste management. We have performed compliance and financial engagements for private haulers, state environmental quality agencies, counties, cities, and local districts. Merina & Company is licensed to practice public accounting in Oregon and Washington. We are members of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants. We have participated in the AICPA Peer Review Program since its inception. Membership in this program is dependent on the firm undergoing independent peer review. We have received an unqualified opinion after every examination of our practice, procedures and system of quality control.
